About The Mortgage Buyer
The Mortgage Buyer was founded in 1994 by its then President, John A. Avenia. John was academically well prepared for a successful career in the mortgage industry; earning a BS degree in accounting and an MBA with majors in finance and real estate from the University of California at Berkeley. Over his career, John learned from the best in the industry while helping well over a thousand note holders sell their private notes, mortgages and trust deeds to generate the liquidity they need.
Heidi joined John at The Mortgage Buyer in 2016 after leaving her career in Nursing. Heidi worked alongside John as he shared his wealth of knowledge in the note buying industry and earning Heidi the title of Director of Acquisitions. In January 2024, John stepped down from the daily operations of The Mortgage Buyer to focus on his Real Estate business and free up more personal time. Feeling confident in Heidi's ability to continue with The Mortgage Buyer, John has totally stepped away and handed the reigns to Heidi and very happy to see it continue. Heidi and her husband Craig now work together on The Mortgage Buyer and our clients are our number one priority!
Our office is located in Clifton Park, New York, part of the beautiful Hudson Valley region of upstate New York. Our President lives nearby with her husband Craig, dog Maisy, and nearby many grandchildren as we enjoy our life centered around family and their community.
